Firebirds show Support for Warwick

By Kevin Groff, 11/08/18, 9:00AM EST

By now I am sure that most of you are aware of the horrific eight vehicle collision that occurred on October 26th outside of Warwick High School that tragically took the lives of two young students, Meghan Keeney and Jack Nicholson.  Meghan Keeney played on the Warwick field hockey team with her close friend Alexa Oehme.  Alexa is the sister of Kian Oehme, a goaltender on the Firebirds' Peewee A-National team.

Kian's team decided to honor her memory by affixing stickers bearing her #33 to their helmets.  Warwick High School is an important part of the the Lancaster Ice Rink family and as such, the LCYAHL Executive Committee has decided to have all Firebirds' teams wear #33 stickers to honor Meghan and support the Warwick High School community as they deal with this tragedy.  A parent from another one of our team's has independently procured enough stickers for our entire organization.

Team managers will be given enough stickers for their team by our hockey director.  The stickers will be affixed to the lower left-hand back portion of the players' helmets.  A donation center will be set up at the rink to collect any contributions that anyone would like to make towards Meghan's family and funds created in her memory.  I would like to thank all of our families for showing their support for Meghan's family and the Warwick High School community.
