The Lancaster Firebirds are pleased to announce that Hockey Director Larry Courville will coach the club's 2018-19 midget 16U-AA team. Firebirds VP Hockey Andy Scott commented that, "Larry's decision to coach our 16U-AA team will provide each player selected for that team with an unparalleled opportunity to learn from an outstanding coach and teacher of the game. There is no one in the central Pennsylvania area coaching youth hockey who can match the combination of Larry's playing and coaching experience at the professional level. We are very excited that our top midget 16U players will have their development guided by Larry next season."
After a successful professional playing career in the NHL, AHL, and ECHL, Larry Courville was the Head Coach of the ECHL Reading Royals for nine seasons. The Royals won the Kelly Cup in 2012-13 and made the play-offs in every one of his eight full seasons behind the bench. Over his ECHL coaching career, Courville amassed the second most wins by a coach with one franchise in the league's history and helped numerous ECHL players advance to the AHL and NHL.
